For a less expensive option ($250) that would still meet your needs, I like the Lucid HD7. It is a little heavy at 13 oz (lighter than the M4s) but I like that is parallax free at 1X which means a lot to me being cross eye dominate. Have nothing but good things to say about the Vortex SPARC optic either which is lighter than the Lucid and parallax free beyond 50 yards. I like the Lucid a little more than the SPARC for the features the extra $50 gets you but either of them or any Aimpoint would be right at home on your Oracle's flat top.
There are many great options out there but these are some I have used and would buy again. If these optic I listed are more than what you had planned, then I'd look at Primary Arms red dots. They import some of the better quality "clones" of the Aimpoint designs. Never used one of these optics and I don't know about relying on one for a possible home defense situation. Many people seem to like them. As for the company, I've ordered many other AR parts from PA and they have always had great customer service and fast shipping.
Good Luck!

I own a S&W M&P15 and have a Trijicon Tripower mounted on it. I love this scope because it uses fiber optics to grab light and illuminate the reticle. It also uses Tritium to illuminate the reticle at night. If you find that you need a brighter reticle than the tritium or ambient light can provide you, you also have the option of turning the device on and illuminating the reticle via battery power.
I love Aimpoint and EOtech but once your battery runs out, you are sol until you replace the batteries. For home defense, this is not acceptable. If you plan on checking your battery power every night before you go to bed, I'd say get an Aimpoint. If not, I would recommend the Trijicon Tripower scope.
Yes but who has that kind of money to spend on a scope???
I have an EOTech and have played with the Lucid HD7. They both rock and are a solid sight for the money.
EOTech's are not cheap and I fought getting that bug for a long time until I happened upon a buddy who loet me take and try it.
Now I won't be caught without one. The Lucid HD7 seems the same way. Solid and the choice of adjustable reticles to fit unique situations is great to have. Both work well with the BUIS mounted on the rifles they are mounted on witch is another important factor...
