The Great Debate: Concealed vs open carry? Which one and why?

I recently attended an open carry picnic. You can find the local news story about the event at this website: www.waow.com

Just search for open carry picnic.

But the debate about the picnic is not limited to whether or not people in the park would or should be afraid of citizens with guns. The debate is whether or not people should practice open carry. Does it cause more problems than it solves?  Is it a chance for thug to make gun grab attempt? Does it scare the women and children?  Should that matter?

What do you think?

Two miles north of Chiefland to be exact.  US Hwy 19 at the time was a two lane highway and there are NO lights.   On the way to Tallahassee to spend weekend with friends.   Chiefland is 3 hours north of where I lived hence the late hour.   And that was the last day I ignored another bit of advice from my dad about carrying a small gun.  Another story.  The place in question in the instance you questioned was four lane but as remote as Chiefland insofar as being in the middle of nowhere.    BG don't like the light where they can be seen.

There are many lonely stretches of road in Florida even today which are the worst spots in the world to break down.  Been there and done that.  Stay safe.
